For All Memoir Lovers

I know you're out there. I'm not the only one who likes to read memoirs so I created this post so we could engage in discussions, i.e. what we like about it, why do we sometimes prefer them to fiction, etc. One of my favorite memoirs of all time is "Angela's Ashes." Have any of you read it? I would like your thoughts and comments, and of course, I like to promote my own memoir "Beyond the Snows of the Andes."

  1. I have read Beyond the Snows of the Andes and I enjoyed it very much. Happy to see your website. It looks wonderful!

  2. Some of my favorite memoirs include Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs and Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. Both books are about unusual childhoods with crazy parents.

I think the reason I like these books so much is because I can relate to them. My own memoir, A Redhead's Journey Through Madness is about being raised by my Father, a former Marine who idolized Hitler and being abandoned by my Mother who has paranoid schizophrenia. Anyone can read it online free of charge at http://redheadsjourney.tripod.com

    1. Rebekah, why didn't you publish your memoir with Amazon? I'm just a bit curious because surely you would do better than just giving it away. I'm a bit busy lately with a lot of projects but when I get a chance I'll take a look at your memoir. I did enjoy Running with Scissors enormously too but not too much the Glass Castle. Why don't you take a gander at my own memoir? I often have promotions and you could get it free on the Kindle. Do you have a Kindle?
